چکیده

Background Phase contrast (PC) MR is routinely used to quantify blood flow in postnatal subjects and through the use of metric optimized gating (MOG) has been employed in studies of fetal blood flow in both normal pregnancies and fetal congenital heart disease [1-3]. Still, the scan time required for high resolution fetal PCMR remains a practical limitation. Recently, compressed sensing (CS) has been integrated with MOG for accelerated CINE imaging of the fetal cardiac anatomy [4]. Here we examine the feasibility of CS for reconstructing retrospectively undersampled PC MR measurements of fetal vessels.

Compressed sensing accelerated 4D-flow MRI in the murine aorta

Background A key determinant of cardiac pump function is the complex interplay between the heart and the arterial system, (i. e. arterio-ventricular coupling). Aging and pathological changes such as atherosclerosis alter elastic properties of the vessel wall, and therefore adversely influence hemodynamic parameters. Mice are commonly used to study cardiovascular disease, but very little has bee...

Accelerated aortic flow assessment with compressed sensing with and without use of the sparsity of the complex difference image.

Phase contrast (PC) cardiac MR is widely used for the clinical assessment of blood flow in cardiovascular disease. One of the challenges of PC cardiac MR is the long scan time which limits both spatial and temporal resolution. Compressed sensing reconstruction with accelerated PC acquisitions is a promising technique to increase the scan efficiency. In this study, we sought to use the sparsity ...

Accelerated 4D flow imaging using randomly undersampled echo planer imaging with compressed-sensing reconstruction

Introduction 2D phase contrast (PC) CMR is currently the standard clinical imaging sequence for evaluation of blood flow [1]. Recently, 3D time-resolved PC CMR (4D-PC) has been used for quantification and visualization of blood flow in all three directions of a volume [2]. However, such acquisitions require long scan times (often 10-20 minutes), which reduces its clinical feasibility and leads ...

Divergence-free reconstruction for accelerated 3D phase-contrast flow measurements

In this work an approach is described to efficiently reduce inaccuracies of flow data acquired with reduced data acquisition methods based on the physical prior knowledge of zero divergence in 3D velocity vector fields. The divergence-free condition is implemented using a synergistic combination of normalized convolution and divergence-free radial basis functions. The efficacy of the method is ...

Accelerated dual-contrast quantitative first-pass perfusion MRI of the mouse heart with compressed sensing

Background Myocardial blood flow (MBF) imaging in gene-modified mice may be used to elucidate molecular mechanisms that underlie coronary vascular function and dysfunction. First pass Gd-enhanced MRI is well-established in humans and has been recently investigated in mice[1-3]. The rapid heart rate and small size of the heart present challenges to performing quantitative first pass imaging in m...
